Beyond the Mat: Experience Traditional Yoga and Permaculture in Bohol
Yoga is often introduced through movement: the poses, the sequences, the hour spent on the mat.
But traditionally, yoga has always been about more than asana.
This November, Indian Yoga School PH is bringing its Hatha Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga Retreat to Miranalla Farm in Guindulman, Bohol, where traditional yoga practice meets permaculture, mindful living, nature, and community.

Led by Teacher Kirti from Rishikesh, India, the experience gives participants an opportunity to study and practice yoga while living on a working permaculture farm—creating space to explore what yoga can look like beyond a scheduled class.
Asana remains an important part of the experience, but participants are also introduced to pranayama, meditation, philosophy, mindfulness, and the principles behind a yogic way of living.
For Yoga Teacher Training students, this becomes part of a deeper study that also covers alignment, anatomy and movement, teaching methodology, sequencing, and developing the skills needed to guide a yoga practice.
For retreat participants, there is no requirement to become a teacher. They can share in the asana and meditation practices while experiencing yoga at their own pace.
Why Practice Yoga on a Permaculture Farm?
If yoga is meant to extend beyond the mat, then the environment in which it is practiced becomes part of the experience.
That is why the November programs will take place at Miranalla Farm, a working permaculture farm in Guindulman, Bohol.

Permaculture encourages people to observe natural systems and think more consciously about food, resources, land, and the relationship between people and their environment.
These ideas naturally complement a yoga practice centered on greater awareness.
Days at the farm are not designed around moving from one yoga class to another. There is time to practice, eat together, learn, explore the farm, rest, and experience a different rhythm of everyday life.

Farm-to-table meals reconnect food with where it comes from. Permaculture activities introduce participants to ways of living and growing that work more closely with nature. Shared spaces create opportunities for community, while the natural surroundings offer room to slow down.
Yoga becomes something participants can explore in how they move, breathe, eat, rest, connect, and experience each day.
Choose Your Experience: Teacher Training or Retreat
The Bohol program runs from November 9 to 22, 2026, with shorter options available depending on how participants want to experience the program.
Hatha Yoga Teacher Training
Those who want to deepen their study or begin developing the foundations to teach can choose from three YTTC programs:
30-Hour YTTC | November 9–12
A four-day introduction to traditional Hatha Yoga and teacher training.
50-Hour YTTC | November 9–15
A seven-day program offering more time for practice, philosophy, teaching methodology, and immersion.
100-Hour YTTC | November 9–22
A 14-day immersive program combining traditional yoga study, life at the permaculture farm, and a freediving experience.
No previous teaching experience is required. The training is open to beginners, dedicated practitioners, and existing teachers who want to deepen their understanding of yoga.
Not Looking to Teach? Join the Yoga Retreat
Participants who want to experience yoga and farm life without completing the teacher-training curriculum can join the retreat running alongside the YTTC.
Retreat participants practice together with the community through two yoga sessions per day, including asana and meditation, while having more time to explore permaculture, the farm, nature, rest, and their personal practice.
Three retreat options are available:
4-Day Yoga Retreat | November 9–12
Yoga, meditation, a permaculture farm experience, shared accommodation, and farm-to-table meals.
7-Day Yoga Retreat | November 9–15
A full week to settle into a slower rhythm of traditional yoga practice and conscious living.
14-Day Yoga + Freedive Retreat | November 9–22
The most immersive option, bringing together yoga, permaculture, farm living, and freediving in Bohol.
The retreat and YTTC participants share the same environment and parts of the daily practice, but follow different paths through the experience.
You do not have to want to become a yoga teacher to want to understand yoga more deeply.
What Does a Day in Bohol Look Like?
A day might begin with sunrise asana as the farm wakes up.
After practice comes a farm-to-table breakfast, followed by learning, exploring, or simply spending time in the natural surroundings.

For YTTC students, the day may include philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, or other training sessions. Retreat participants have more freedom to explore the farm, learn about permaculture, rest, or enjoy Bohol.
As the day winds down, the community comes together again for sunset asana, pranayama, meditation, dinner, and conversation.
It is a rhythm designed to create room for both learning and simply being present.
Learn Yoga. Live Yoga.
The purpose of bringing Indian Yoga School PH to Miranalla Farm is not to turn sustainable living into another activity on an itinerary.
It is to create an environment where the ideas discussed during yoga practice can continue throughout the rest of the day.

Traditional yoga asks practitioners to develop awareness beyond physical movement. Permaculture similarly asks people to pay closer attention to the systems they live within.
Together, they create an opportunity to explore a simple question:
What happens when yoga becomes something you live, rather than something you only practice for an hour?
This November in Bohol, participants can explore that question for four days, seven days, or two full weeks.
